Be Smart About the 2008 L.A. Auto Show Concepts

It just isn't an auto show without concept cars, and the 2008 L.A. Auto Show is no different. While some of the concept cars on display at the L.A. Auto Show are familiar faces, having debuted elsewhere in the world, many are new, and all are new to these shores at the very least.

There are two primary trends reflected in the concept cars at the 2008 L.A. Auto Show: green and near-production. Many cars – such as the BMW 7 Series Hybrid, BMW X6 Hybrid, Hyundai Sonata Hybrid and Kia Borrego FCEV – are alternatively-powered versions of cars that are already in production. Others, such as the Honda Insight Concept, are thinly disguised versions of production cars that will debut soon. Still, companies know how to dream, as the Honda CR-Z Concept and Hyundai HED-5 Concept demonstrate.
